Much like Jonah Goldberg when he wrote the first post for National Review Online's The Corner, I can't figure out for the life of me the proper way to inaugurate a new blog. Also much like Mr. Goldberg, I am completely aware that this blog is just as like to become something of a noted publication as it is to "tank faster than Steven Bochco’s Cop Rock."
Of course, one thing Jonah had on me as far back as 2002 is that, unlike me, he was the editor of National Review Online, and that I'm, well...I'm just Mitch.
In any event, I have high hopes for this newest home of Carter's Corner, the media brand that now can lay claim to a homepage and Twitter handle and a column in the local newspaper, which I do believe is the basic definition of successful media presence.
I can make no guarantees, but I do hope that over time Carter's Corner comes to be composed of a mixture of long-form pieces, interspersed with shorter commentaries and newsy bits and whatever else comes to mind. Feel free to loiter around for a while, and to come back as often as you like.
With that said, let the future begin.
